SELF CARE IS GOOD TEMPER

 

What does it feel like when we have a good temper? What does it feel like when others are good-tempered toward you? Good Temper is an ingredient in the 'Recipe of Love' and essential for self care.

When we show Good Temper, we build a better relationship with ourselves and others.  Henry Drummond states, "We are incined to look upon bad temper as a very harmless weekness. We speak of it as a mere infirmity of nature, a family failing, a matter of temperament, not a thing to take into very serious account in estimating a man's character. Condemn it as one of the most destructive elements in human nature".Ill-temper is a vice of the virtuous and an unloving characteristic. It destroys relationships, communities and nations.

LOVE is not easily provoked. Be of Good Temper and you will be in control of yourself:


                                                         -Bring clarity to the situation

                                                         -Be non-reactive

                                                         -Draw on your inner essence

                                                          -Meditate on Love

SELF CARE IS HAPPINESS

In the midst of unspeakable tragedies, it may be difficult to be happy. Why should I be happy when there are so many suffering? If we join in the vibration of sadness, we manifest more sadness... hence grief and anxiety. But, how can we find HAPPINESS? As Buddha quotes, it begins with self-discipline and self- control. Engage in self-reflection to determine if you are aligned with the vibraton of goodness and LOVE. What are you thinking? How are you feeling? What actions are you taking? All is reflected in the outer world. 

HAPPINESS is an inside job. HAPPINESS is making healthy choices that is essential to Self-Care. Be responsible for yourself.  Make healthy choices. Know what to hold on to and when to let go. Here are some practical tips:


-Be compassionate with yourself and others

-Give service to others

-Be forgiving of yourself and others

-Let go of resentments and past hurts

-Love, honor and respect yourself

SELF-CARE IS SETTING HEALTHY BOUNDARIES

"You have to learn how to say no without feeling guilty. Setting boundaries is healthy. You need to learn to respect and take care of yourself"

Have you ever resigned yourself to doing something that did not feel good for you? Have you said "Yes" when in your heart you knew you should have said "No"? Do you feel guilty when you say "No"?  What feels good and right for you is good and right for others. Often we say "Yes" because we feel obligated and responsible for others, even though it may inhibit their personal growth and sense of responsibility. We may say "Yes" because we are inclined to be people pleasures and believe that our self-worth comes from others.

Uncondiitonal love is responding with the expectation of something in return..."If I do this for you, when my time comes, I expect you to respond to me the same". When others do not respond according to your expectations, this builds up anger and resentment.  When we set healthy boundaries, we teach others how to treat us and this creates a ripple effect for change, not only for you but others as well.

It is our duty to take care of our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. SELF CARE is SELF-LOVE. Stay strong and be clear about what is best for you. This takes constant awareness. Take the time to pause before you respond. Go inward and you will know what feels right. Overthinking can cause unhappiness.

Self Care is loving yourself enough to set healthy boundaries. Self Care is being True to yourself by:


                                                              -Knowing your worth

                                                              -Trusting your intuition

                                                              -Nurturing your inner child

                                                              -Developing your support system

LOVE is our natural state of being. Kindness is an ingredient in the 'Recipe of Love', where we use our voice, hands, and heart mind for compassion, charity and truth and love. Love unconditionally and be forgiving. Our actions reflect who we are. When we are being kind, we are considerate, compassionate, complimentary, and gentle. In order to show KINDNESS to others, we must first be KIND to ourselves. When we are KIND to ourselves, we appreciate and accept ourselves. Listen to yourself. How are you talking to yourself. Have you befriended yourself? We can accept ourselves with Loving-Kindiness and compassion by:

                                                                     -AFFIRMING SELF-LOVE
